how do all!
my 300tdi grinds gears between 1st and second. i new this wen I bought it, and its never been an issue. obviously the syncro mesh must be warn and i get by it by either double de clutchin or jus goin 1st - neutral - 2nd, without double de.
however, i'm curious to how much work it would be for this to be sorted?i'm guessin most of the cost in a garage wood b labour?gettin at the egar box etc?any one had this kinda work done to their landy? and if yes, any estimates to how much it should cost me to get done right?any advice or nostalgic tit bits wood go down a storm!
cheers
ted

o and by egar i really mean GEAR as in GEAR box! jus gettin in their first on my mistake b4 SLOB gets his 5 shillins worth!

ah yer all right al let yer orf with that one, but i am curious how else one can get from 1st to 2nd without going through N.

yer be best getting a 2nd hand box or a recon one if yer synchros is fooked .

yer could do it yerself but it would be a long drawd out process as yer can bet yule find more wrong than just a synchro. plus its not really a job fer a novice

fooking car, some times ah think ad be betta orf with agaylander. at least then yud know the bolts and nuts and stuff can't be that seized on , seeing as how them is slackened every other week.
this fooking car is 17years bastid old with a few lightyears on the clock and this is the furst time since noo that these fecker have come orf and them is well stuck. took a fooking 12ton press to gert one of them oot

yer can't use heat.

yer got a steel bolt in a steel sleeve in a ally housing wiff bearings either end that have gort rubber covers on em plus yer abs **** is near by

and and and i don't know why it has bearing as the part can't rotate more than abart 10° or so. ad ah though a fooking exploding bush would hav edone

aye its bonkers,, instead of 4bar fer a rubber bush it arms and legs fer two special bearings.

thems on the bottom of the sirpension upright where it joins the wish bone so although it go up and down it dint turn much which is evident in the dents in the outer race

here yer go grunt the bearings is at the bottom of the upright
