Arse!
So here are the symptoms, sometimes it wont start, not even a click from the starter, nothing, no spinning, nothing.
So I whack the solenoid and it will eventually spin the motor and start, so my solenoid is kaput , the problem is I have no idea what starter is in there, I think its a lucas, I can see bosch ones listed, will a bosch fit a lucas starter and a lucas fit a Bosch just in case I order the wrong one?

I know, I'm wondering if Bosch and Lucas are the same fitment, I haven't pulled the starter out, my tools are at work, I'm pretty sure its a Lucas though.

Thanks James , always appreciate your advice, its been starting lazy for a while , battery drops to 10 or less while cranking so its toast, apparently this causes the solenoid contacts to soot up, I'm going to start with a battery and see where thats takes things, if not I will have to pull the starter and have a closer look at it.

I had a tdi starter on an old 2 litre diesel, made the world of difference to starting.
The decent makes are er decent ie bosch etc, the britparts ones are low rent inside, they do work but the quality isnt there, but thats what my 90 has on it and so far so good!
