Arse!
this was because the competition had become diluted , the focus on four wheel driving was not so much a major part of the competition as in previous years with the new focus of the rally being on such things as kiaking and mountain biking.

or was it because the 20 teams mostly consisting of mums doing a school run ,had to do the 5000 klms trek from santiago to ushuaia then reverse park in a busy school car park without running over any kids.
oh , and they all had to do it in freelanders.

fuk sake boys.
dunt ya know nuttin?
im freelander bashin again.

land rover pulled out of the camel trophy , 98 being the last year for them.
this is the same year they done it in free landers. funny that eh?
also,
it wasnt really about off road driving , it was more about mountain biking and canoeing and personal fitness.
not about freelanders , get it?

have a watch of ''camel trophy land rover years 89 - 98''
if you know where to look for it (google) its worth watching.
