hi guys ive got a problem with my 1998 freelander 1.8 it started a few weeks ago going up the motorway went over a bump and noticed a knocking noise after a week or so driving it another noise appeared like a slight grating noise it doesn't do it all the time though ive jacked it up and checked all the normal things ball joints drop links and theres nothing wrong there no play at all the grating noise is like something rubbing on the exhaust ive looked underneath and cant see any obvious problems the propshaft has been removed too the grating noise was worse going up a slight hill in 4th gear and the revs were fairly low ive not had much time to look at it over the last week or so but need to get it sorted soon
I do know the engine mount on the drivers side to the chasis is really worn its pretty knackerd to be honest and its been like that a while but has always driven ok has any body else had this problem
