1997 Defender 110 transmission brake.
Things are stacked on the pin in the following order::
Cable lever
Shoe
Crinkly/spring washer, 1 off
Sturdy plain washer
C clip
The official manual shows what looks like 2 crinklies and a plain (#2 in attached pic)
The lever has a built-in spacer to hold it away from the shoe slightly
I'm assuming the outboard positions are correct.
When the brake is applied the lever pivots relative to the shoe.
The pin moves with the lever.
The washers and C clip move with the shoe.
There is therefore relative movement between the pin and C clip. so every time the parking brake is applied the C clip rubs its groove and there is greater potential for both wear and clip ejection. I would prefer to see the clip moving with the pin and the washers taking the rub.
What's yours doing?
Any thoughts?
Thank you.
