1996 Defender PUP 3.5 V8

Greetings to all, really great to be part on forum, being wanting to join up for quite some time but these classics are all so magnetized and once stuck you stuck... ...lol

I've recently picked up a bit of a head scratcher,
My 3.5V8 which is a 5 speed box, reverse sitting bellow 5th gear which I presume has the R380 box in her,

She only seems to be able to drive in locked mode hi or low ratio,

She clips into normal hi or low but no movement forward or backwards,
Any idea what all I can check before resorting to pulling box out,

Any advice will greatly be appreciated,

You could have a dead half shaft or diff problems, lift each wheel in turn while diff lock is engaged, see if you get movement
