I recently noticed (as I was checking fluids etc) that the engine coolant seemed very low. I topped up with water/ anti freeze and thought nothing more of it. I rechecked after a few days driving and norticed coolant had gone down again - not hugh amounts, but definitely gone down.

Other day, after a fairly short journey, I noticed a slight hissing noise coming from under bonnet and when i lifted bonnet, hiss was coming from expansion tank cap and there is scalding/ staining around the top of the expansion tank.

Engine runs good and never shows any sign of overheating and I have checked all the obvious for signs of head gasket failure, but no signs of that.

Is this something simple as needing a new expansion tank cap?

Thanks

hopefully the cap valve buggered, but with mine it turned out to be the head gasket, started like that and got worse

Hi,

I'm facing a new water leaking problem on my disco 95 its on 200k, Km.

i have notice that if the car is parked for days the coolant level is good, when the engine is on start or running the coolant starts dripping under the car away from the radiator.

The first time i notice was when I’m doing the weekly checking i notice water level was low, so i filled it up then drove about 15km as i stopped the engine within few seconds i realized a huge amount of water was leaking i can say it was more than 1 Lt.

I couldn’t find the exact location from where it’s leaking but away from the radiator on the driver side around 5" from the front left tire towards door.

please advice from whould i start the troubleshooting ?

one more thing the color of the water is alway green, does this has to do thing thing ?

Regards,
Arshard
