 Hi me again...Has anyone got any more ideas what could be wrong...

Its my dads Range and he asked my son to wash and polish it, Looked great went to take it back and it just would`nt select any gears,it starts but you get this crunching noise when trying to select any gears...and there are no brakes either..... If it is the gearbox would`nt it have had some signs that it was going to happen......I just have a feeling that its something simple and my dad will end up paying loads.....PLEASE ANY IDEAS WELCOME....Lois:confused::eek:

check anywhere that could have been damaged/disturbed by washing. did he use a jet wash?

i would have a look underneath around the g/box wires and also in the fuse bos. as this is not a common issue(or doesn't seem to be) the i would suspect you'll have to get someone to look at it. do you/your dad have aa homestart or breakdown?

 Hi, Bucket and sponge...I checked to see if anything was wet no joy. My other son is with the AA why could they help.....My son who washed the thing in the 1st place has got it booked in tomorrow to have the gear box looked at, will they be able to tell from looking,if its the gearbox. I love my son but he knows less than me about Range Rovers...
Thanks so much for your help, and I will let you know the verdit.....:eek::doh:

ps Would it be a good idea to get the AA to tow it to the garage.?

well i would work out if they will fix or diagnose it for you without chargeing. i mean you pay yr subscription and the car is broken down, i dont know if its covered as its not his car but if the aa protect yr son rather than his car then its worth a try, after all they cant charge you without telling you they are going to charge you but i would ask anyway.

if you tow the car, or the aa do, be sure to put fuse 11 in under the drivers seat. if not further damage could occur to the g/box and transfer box!! dont let the aa move it until this fuse is in and the car in N.
