I am trying to get my cruise control working .When i activate it with the main switch , the switch lights up , I get voltage to the vacuum pump. I removed the pump and energised it from a 12volt source , and the pump runs ok.When i am driving , it does not work. all pipes are ok .The manual says that the ecu is under the lower dash panel , but i can't see it .Where exactly is it ? by the way , mine is a jap export model , so it may be different to u.k. spec. Is the relay under the drivers seat at the rear ? Any help gratefully received . P.S. the past owner said cruise did not work well on LPG , is this true ?

the cruise ecu is on the left hand side of the steering column. drop the plastic panel, and you will see a silver box. that is the c/c ecu. it should be no different on an export model

Oh yes !! It was hiding behind the black flexible air ducting !! luckily it was only being secured by the one easy to get to nut . When i did the jumper wire tests , I found that there was no voltage showing on terminal 2 and 6 from the set and resume switches , so my next investigation will be in taking the steering wheel of eh ?

Sorted !! The ribbon had snapped off at the cassette to steering wheel plug ! Took it to work , stripped it , with the aid of a magnifying glass I stripped the insulation off the copper strips and soldered them back onto the connectors in the socket (only three of the five strips were needed ) !!I left about 50mm of spare ribbon sticking out of the cassette so that I could work on it easier , and rejoined the socket which i had split open . I then refitted it all carefully back on to the car and then trimmed off a split bit of vacuum tubing from the tee piece that goes to the foot brake and pump , and then went on a test . It worked !!
