Hi,

I own a 1989 3.9 Vouge SE RR Classic, which ran really well until I lent it to a friend of mine

The outcome was the starter motor had given up, so I've fitted a recon starter motor but now the car's electrics are completely dead, no lights whatso ever

Is there a common earth point which fails with time due to corrosion? I've tried the search function but haven't found any suitable answers.

Many thanks for reading,

Hallza.

They have lots of earthing points. If you have no electrics at all I suspect an earthing point is the least of your worries.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, what could then cause complete failure of the electrical system other than an earth point/s?

The battery is fully charged, connections to it have been cleaned and reseated.....

Many thanks,

Have you checked the positive terminal on the starter motor.....both the one from the battery and the one to the ignition switch n leccy system fasten on that terminal so they need to be free of road crap n grease in order to make good contact which each other too.

Also the earth lead off the starter is vital

If the starter has been replaced whats the betting one of the positives hasn't been re-connected
