Hi, I'm looking for some good advice.
I have been offered a 1988 90 swb county for a mad cheap price, probably something I am never going to get again. It's going to be a massive project as the bulkhead and sills have gone. The ute is mechanically very sound and can be still driven around. It doesn't have an MOT but has a great history for a truck of its age.
I was looking into costs as I am unable to do the work myself, because of my job. I know it's going to be a lot and I am prepared to pay to make it a working cleanish truck again. does anyone know a ballpark figure to get it back onto the road? I am in Cornwall so any recommendations on mechanics would also be muchly appreciated. Thank you Archie

Welcome:).

It would have to be an insanely cheap price to buy if you want others to do the work. All the little bits add alot of cost.
You say you cant do the work cos of your work, Do you have the space, time, ability? then just spend alot longer to DIY.

Got any pics.
There are a few on the forum who live in Kernow that may know of somewhere that could help.

Hi, thank you for your reply!!
It is an incredible price. I work offshore so having free time is very hard to find. I think I could personally do the small things but the chassis and bulkhead are far beyond my ability. I guess in my case unfortunately it's going to cost a bit. Cheers

About where in Kernow are you?

Down West, you have got Buryas Bridge Garage, Steve Toyer at Penryn, or if you are after a more budget option there is Andy Richards at Carharrack.

I don't know East Cornwall so well, but @Trewey does.

Whatever sort of Land Rover establishment you go to, please don't describe your vehicle as a "ute". They may laugh, or even put their prices up! :D

Hi Thanks for your reply, I'm in East Cornwall. Thanks Archie

Whitehair Engineering at Little Trethew (near Liskeard) is brilliant and sensibly priced. Tamar 4X4 at St Ive are good but a bit pricier.
Hi Cheers for your reply. I was looking at Whitehair. I have heard not great reviews on Tamar and they also are probably out mt budget. Cheers Archie
