You lucky bugger you had an outrigger that was somewhat intact!

In all seriousnessness though, nice job. Funny enough, i had exactly the same issues on my 90. Outrigger gone, and cross member, and the top of the bulkhead. Mine is only 1 year older than yours though.

Im a sucker for a landy with light guards .... I know not to everyones taste but i like.

Ebay provided them for 13.50 and 19 quid a set.

Fronts. Spirit lievel says they are level ..... How ever my grill is not , must readjust.

Also need to get some round spots for the a bar that light bar isnt right , looks wrong :(

Got all my fuel pipes clipped in properly and pclipped my loom (in conduit) to the chassis , finished my window seals , fitted the rear cluster boxes in the tub , rebuilt both swivels , front hubs and cv joints this week.

Started fitting the floor plates , found my fuel gauge doesnt work any more , earthing the green wire just causes sparks now:( new one coming from aaron morris.

Need to pick up a bonnet wheel mount lock plate and figure out how to fit the gas bonnet strutts - or indeed any strutt ... The 4x4 block of wood i keep in the winch tray probably isnt mot tester friendly.

That's cracking, mate. You've come a hell of a long way with that build. Good luck with the MOT. I'm sure it'll be fine, even without a tame tester. :)

Tonights progress.

Floor plates , seat box tops and transmission tunnel in.

Original defender seats - in

Original wheel back in.

Fuel gauge change dout and working , cheers aaron.

3rd spat fitted,

Took it for a test drive, nasty clunk is gone ( was cv joints and drive members)

Still drives like a crab .... How ever when i looked at the wheel allignment when i got back , one was going to the shops the other was coming back with the change.

One issue i had thought was i seemed to be getting exhaust fumes i. The cab on boost. Will need to look at my manifold carefully.

No progress to look at i just like how it looks now :)

Did timing belt yesterday and had a play with headlights adjust at night. Today ill have to investigate a wiring issue. I get alternate dip and main on each light on each setting.

Favorite party trick for 1 million bolt sequences that are different lengths.

Found out why my headlights werent behaving when i trie to set them up last night. Not dipping when they should . One main beam and one dip what ever the setting - they just swapped sides when i went dip or mainbeam.

It was fudd factor.

Id put the earth from the drivers light to the main beam on the h4 . Doh.

My list of things to do now fits on a short hand note book page..... My spread sheets redundant.

Wrote them all down at work off my spreadsheet and started working through them ..... Ticked off about 1/4 of them tonight, silly things. Tighten the one prop bolt i missed , bolt down floor pans , put the rest of the bolts in the brake and clutch pedals, adjust drums , reset wheel bearings after bedding in period.

Need to patch tub floor , change front brake pads - they dont feel very effective.

Need to clean all the oil off the exhaust and sump as it stinks when the exhaust gets hot.

For got how easy it is to lock up the rear of an unloaded 1980s 90 - no shuttle valve there.

Need to make up a bracket for the air box and i need to finish bolting down the coolant reservoir

Give it a good wash. Any tips for getting silicone off windows ?

Get the wax oyl in the cavities and give the outside a dict with underseal over the chassis black.

Mean while both my vans need steering racks , one needs pads and disks and im possibly having to go to turkmenistan for 10days next week and im getting married in 3 weeks.

MOT tomorrow .... now im nervous !

im more nervous about the fact i need to drive it to the test centre - 3 miles .... but 3 miles at 7am with all the nutters heading to the office.....

little bit of last minute work to do tonight. finally got a decent brake pedal yesterday how ever still feels like the fronts are a bit lack luster.... im putting that down to the new disks. Will take it out up the track tonight for some good braking efforts and get some heat into them.

all the weight transfers onto the fronts and the rears lock up very easy..... cadence braking required.... but i believe thats normal for an 80s landie.....

Right thats it . Give up. Its as good as its getting,

Sweeper on the fail sheet open.

Im taking braking failure. - although im not sure if thats just old landy brakes afterall the entire systems new. They lock up on demand how ever i dont seem to slow down all that quick.

After lots of spirited stopping tonight the are all equally baking hot.

I tried pumping them a bit for some cadence braking and they just get harder and harder as if the vac pumps struggling to keep the vac up.....

Who knows.
