1971 Series 2a Lightweight Rear Tub.

Hello again folks,

Has anyone ever removed the rear tub from a SWB Series 2 ?

I'm just wondering how much of a big job it is, before thinking about working on changing some of the rear panels on my lightweight.

I guess you would start with removing the three front seats, then the seat box etc, does it then once I've removed the bolts from the back, and battery trays etc, Just move forward.?
As always,, any advice would be great..

Quite a easy job got my lightweight striped down to this in 2 evenings lots of wd40 and a angle grinder on some tuff nuts

Floor planels
Seatbox (+ Seatbelts, seats ect ect)
Disconnect wiring
Take roof off (Assuming you have a roof)
4 Tabs with 2 bolts in each at the front of the tub (middle ones can be a pain in the arse)
5 Tabs on the rear crossmember.
Disconnect fuel filler pipe
Tabs from sills (Next to the B piller on each side)

All being well it should lift off. About a weekends work at a guess?

You will near 2 peope to lift it!

Word of warning, You WILL need a grinder!

Have to ask, What will I need to grind,,?

Stubbon and Rusty bolts. You might be really really lucky and not need one.... but i doubt it

Guys, I have to ask, how you do all put photos onto these mails ?, I've tried, however they never appear ! Have they got to be under a certain size..?
I think pictures spoek a thousand words, and they really help to get the message across, Plus I'm kinda thick as well...lol
