i sent an email to that sampson load liners or who ever they are , they sent me that pic, they do other tool boxs too, the same stuff that hanford trailer sell, might get a couple of side boxs like that in the summer,

so i spose its his landy , not mine, too tidy

bloke at Sutton Bank has a wide folder is you ever need it - top man for MOTing yer landy as well - just make sure your tranny brake is spot on as the drive up to it is like the side of a mountain

Well, hard work continues through the night, its all the small stuff now, tried out a silver on the barbecue grill and re did the steering wheel and the dash. Removed the glow plug heater indication (which the PO had put into the dash leaving an ugly hole lower left) by riveting a sheet cutout and filling it with body filler.Entering the last lap now!!:clap2: Have found one front bumper towing ring in the scrap in Darjeeling 2300 Km away from me !!!!:D, will copy it to make the pair.

i quite like that, looks the part - but CP on a Series

I know,a bit over the top for the series but i seem to remember some series vehicles with it on this site !!!;) i am only copying the pictures guys. But i take your advice, with due apologies, will cover it with a rubber mat on show days. Leaving the floor scruffy and bare some how takes away from the rest of the squeaky clean look ive worked hard to achieve!! (yes yes yes i know that is the whole point of the land Rover Series init ??? but pls allow me my flaws :blabla:)
Regards

Sorry for the long hiatus, nothing much to report but the "small stuff", upholstery, indicator assembly refurbished. !! moving slowly but surely on the wiring !! and door trim. Once i got the original water temp, fuel gauge and oil warning to work the extra dash panel for PO fixed water temp and fuel gauge instruments had become redundant hence i modified that to take a new Amperehour meter and a hazard switch and windshield washer button. The engine bay is looking pretty crowded now !!had completely new diesel pipes fitted with crimping on all ends rather than using clamps that leak air in, and fitted a plastic bowl type water separator in lieu of glass original. Some modern safety measures are an auto cutout for the glow plug heaters (20 secs for this engine) and fitting a take off from the alternator for an RPM gauge in the cabin. also wired the glow plugs in parallel so that if one fails the others will still work !!

Cutting and rubbing the paint continues laboriously !!
Everything is held up as wiring is on now, then we' ll do the last touch ups Was trying to get the play out of the steering and found all the ball joints shot. could have temporarily fixed them, but that would have lasted only a few months especially in the off road scenario, so spent a few days hunting for alternatives and came up with the Ford tractors ball joints which fit well but have an extra thread on the reverse thread side of the rod ends. had to have an extra thread cut into the tie rods and we are good to go now. Took apart the indicator assembly and wondered at the simple mechanical wizadry. had it cleaned out, buffed and put back as new with a new rubber gromet.

Had some logo stickers made for the mud flaps as well.

Put a relay in the head light circuit to prevent the sealed gas head lamps from blowing in case of an over- voltage runaway from the original but unregulated Lucas alternator as well. :blabla:

Deviated greatly from stock by putting the fuse box under the dash as against the engine bay as i dont see myself stepping out into the pouring rain of a sudden Bangalore shower to open the bonnet and fiddle with the fuse box. Still have the original fuse box and could revert to original quite easily!!:D

Could find only one bumper tow ring in the godowns of Darjeeling so fabricated a copy and then printed out some mud flap logos. Drove a bit, even as small fixes and polishing continue, found problems with the brakes and one of the leaf springs needs to be tigthened. Hope to have her home by weekend!!
