I'm thinking of importing a series 1 from uraguay as I'll be shipping my D1 back to the UK from there after finishing the pan American highway in it.
I was wondering what work would need to be done to convert it from left to right hand drive?
Thanks

why not keep it LHD its not as if you will be overtaking other vehicles in it, and if its fairly original then at 68 years old I would do just enough to make it safe and usable. Keep the patina. Good luck.

Keep it lefty.
But It's not hard to convert S1 just need to find a front axle parts & a steering box.
There's possibly £1k gone straight away ;)
Unsure if the chassis has the steering relay holes in both sides.

People like original looking S1 just don't touch the body work
Good luck

A few years ago I helped a mate change from right to left. This was to save a lot of import tax to an African country so was worth it.
More of a job than you would think. Keep it as it is.

Another vote for keeping it LHD. With a vehicle that old it's another original feature to retain. As said, only real trouble is overtaking which won't be very frequent. Watch out at some junctions too but you get used to it quickly enough.

Certainly no legal need to convert, except for things like headlights which must be RHD-spec and possibly the speedo as the original will probably be in km/h.

Keep it LHD and original, the chassis number says it’s a lefty so that’s how it’s meant to be.
Also agree with minecab and Hicap Phill as long as it’s not been messed around with too much leave the body work. They look great with a nice patina, there are too many perfectly painted series around. Just doesn’t look right.
