Hi all

My 17 year old son whats to drive my 110 but it has too meany sets for his licence so was wondering if we take then very back sets out could he then drive it or would we need to contact the DVLA ?

The important thing is how many passengers it's insured to carry. You need to remove how ever many seats then make sure the insurance covers only that many.

Insurers are notorious for weedling out of paying up and if it's insured for more passengers than he can carry.....whether it has the seats or not....they may try and say he hasn't the licence to drive it.

take out 1 rear bench, that'll fix it, you can have max 8 PASSENGER seats, so even if you have a centre front, your ok, I have the same on my 110 SW.

No of seats doesnt normally appear on the v5 unless its a minibus.

I thought the important thing, from a legal (i.e. driving license) and insurance viewpoint, is not how many seats are actually in the vehicle but how many are on the type approval certificate. You can get a copy of the TAC from Land Rover but they may charge you.

If you remove seats then you should declare that to your insurer who may then consider the vehicle to be modified and increase your premium anyway.
