Hello everybody,

I have a defender v8 3.9 and i'm thinking of getting a chip from a TVR chimaera 400 and put it to my 14cux ecu.Has anyone ever done something like this?Do you think i would see any changes at all. Please advise me.Every opinion is acceptable!!Thank you.

if it will go in..not soldered etc..then it would be wrong anyway surely??tvr and defender very different...
torque cruves will all be wrong etc..

You'd be better off getting a megasquirt and some dyno time.

I know it costs money for those, but like zen said, the eprom map will not be the same, and I think you'd end up disappointed

You are absolutely right, these cost much more money and thats why i'm thinking to give it a try.Since i have the chip.I was just wondering if someone had already done it......

You're wasting your time IMHO. Fuelling will be all wrong - you'll need to investigate changing cam shaft and ignition timing. Like Zen said, torque curve will be different as will the power curve. Waste of time really. Why not just get the existing motor running properly?

Just put a kent H180 in it - costs about 300 in parts (cam, lifters, gaskets, rocker post shims etc) and any competent mechanic can do it in half a day.

TVR fuel map will be all wrong - the torque curve starts about 2500 rpm which is just where you need it in a 1000kg roadster - not ideal however in a 2-tonne leviathan.

need to add £70 for new rockers and shafts..bound to be fecked..mine were.

ps thats exactly what i fitted in mine..

BUT CHEAPER option if got non coil pack engine and just as good is real steel cam..unfortuantly i had to go kent..

now everyone said dont waste your time..so why not sell your chip , say on piston heads and spend the money on cam etc??? just a thought?

Viper Hurricane is great as well - and 50 quid cheaper - but they don't always have them in stock - H180 easy to get - agree with your comment about rockers etc.

Comparing the grind with H180 - very slightly different but both give great improvement in mid range and slightly better off-idle
