I had one in my Transit and the bloody lead melted in the end. Did use it quite a lot and it was only cheap  Get a decent one and make sure it is fused and I reckon you're onto something.

Never head of these until now!

Seems a doddle to from 0-boiled! Kelly Kettle Review / Demo by the Kelly Kettle Co. - YouTube

They boil very fast once started. Sometimes they are hard to start (wind and damp), but I keep a small tinder kit with my gear, including a small strip of inner tube, which gets the fire going nicely.
I use them at work if there is no power (builder). I keep one in the car permanently, and I use them for canoeing trips too. Very good bits of kit imo..

I have a boiler in the back of the 110. Takes about 20 mins to boil. Holds loads of water. Same boiler they use in crew buses etc.

12v kettle are these any use? Got a stove and flask, just thinking that one of these switched on 20 min before you get to your destination would give you boiling water for a brew before you start your day.

The trouble you would have is that you would still be travelling to your destination and your kettle would be full with near boiling point water, which must be dangerous. Although the idea of a ready made brew is appealing, the few minutes spent boiling the water once stationary has got to be safer.

See my idea above;)

I too have a teamate urn in the back of my landy. It holds enough water for 20 cups of tea and takes 45 mins to boil from cold. If I want it to boil quicker I simply put less water in it.

I've had mine for about 4-5 years (it was secondhand when I got it). It gets used most times I'm out in the landy and the only problem I have ever had with it was when a thermal fuse blew.
