Hi all

I'm looking for a 90 or 110 and a bloke is selling a modded 110 hard top locally but it has a major hole in the chassis (drivers side just in front of rear wheel).

I'm happy with a project vehicle and am getting a local LR mechanic to look over on Monday but wanted some advice from experts!

Also what would you pay for a 110 1992 150k miles with a chassis that needs heavy work or repl? It's got a 9k superwinch & bumper, snorkel, galv roof rack with ladder, new tyres, new back step, spots on rack.

Ps help!

Can you weld? If the chassis can be repaired, and you haven't got to pay someone to do it - it's possible that you could end up with a relatively cheap Landy. If the chassis needs replacing and you can do it yourself, add £1500 to the cost. If you've got to pay someone else to do it.... well, I hope you have deep pockets.

You say theres a 'hole in the chassis' then 'needs heavy work or repl?' which is it? cud be the diff between a good deal or a no go

Re hole vs heavy work. Major hole is height of section and tapers from 1 inch to c.5inches at bottom. Chassis is covered in mud so will clean off when mechanic mate goes to have a look.
Current owner told it could be welded by local garage but would need appx £1k's worth of welding - not sure if that's possible??
It is in a good state with lots of valuable mods so looks like it might be a go-er if weld-able and price is right?

A grand's worth of welding???? I'd be looking at a new chassis if I was facing that!

So, add £1000 to the £1500 - and then ask yourself what else are you going to have to spend money on?

I feel a tw@ now selling my 1988 110... solid as a rock with 200tdi conversion fer £1500 :( u live n learn
Yup - we certainly do. I paid way over the odds for my 1988 Ninety with an original 2.5TD engine in it. It was the middle of winter, prices were sky high, and I had cash burning a hole in my pocket!

I hate that bastard burning money. I did the same, jumped on the first half decent landy that I saw, just to find a suspect loom, chassis holes, and to top it off I had to remove the dash to remove a bolloxed radio and found three rounds of live ammunition floating around the terminals. Just goes to show that taking your time will deffo pay dividends in the long run. Not a much fun though!!:D:D
