Hi Guys

I got my Defender last week and the dealership replaced the speedo Drive Gear but they did not know how to connect all the wires back?

Anybody know where this unit is and can I connect it myself?
Is it on the transfer case next to the handbrake drum same as the older defenders?
Can't be that hard can it?

Any detail and comments are welcome! :D

Cheers! :beer2:

your joking, speedc is in same place with simliar plug becareful connecting as transducer is a bit fragile and not secured that good easy to knock off center

Assuming new (ish), I'd be tempted to ask the dealer to contact a UK main dealer (or buy a book!!!), find out how and then do the job properly!

Not meaning to be unhelpful but cannot answer your question myself, but when you pay a premium to use dealers, you'd expect the job done

No joke, bunch of wannabe's that changed it and then told me to take it to a auto electrician!

How do I get to it?
Take out centre console and plate and do it from the top or is it easy enough from under the defender?

Thanks

Hi Station

Sorry for the miss type, it's not a LR dealer - better know as a stealer around here.
It's the second hand car dealership (Ford & Mazda) where i bought my Landy from.
The problem is they are 70km from where I stay and work so it's a bit of a drive to take her back.
Thought if it's easy enough I'll just do it myself?

The Defender is a whole other machine compared to my ex DII V8 so thought it would be a bonding experience? :D

ok so we did some bonding...
I took out the centre console and took a look from above.

There was insulation tape all over and took it all off, can't see how they thought this connection will work...

Anyhow, phoned the sales guy and will be taking my Landy to a independant Landrover repair centre and they will be paying :p

Here is the pic's for what it's worth.

Cheers

It's fixed.
Took the guy about half an hour to fix it.
Was about 30pounds if converted ;)
The car dealership I bought the Landy from will reimburse me.
Will try and take some pic's tonight to show what he did.

Thanks for all the help!
