110 starter

Ive got a 1990 110 2.5 TD and it needs a new starter motor. My problem is I cant see how to get the damn thing off!! It seems to have been designed by someone who hates me!
Any one got any sugestions?

I've got the same job to do on mine when I get round to it. From what I can see it's just a straightforward undo the bolts to release the starter from the engine but you might have to loosen or remove the exhaust downpipe to let it come out. Pain in the arse which is why I haven't got round to doing mine yet

i got mine out of my n/a pretty easy. you need a socket set with a variety of extension bars. its pretty fiddly but you undo the 3 larger bolts and the wiring from the solonoid and it should come out ok.

Yeah the n/a one is a straight out job but the hastily redesigned exhaust on the turbo gets in the way
