Can anyone offer some advice? I have a 110 with a 2.5Na diesel. where the manifold joins to the downpipe i am getting serious blowing. we at first replaced the ring gasket which did not help, so I tried firegum exhaust paste, this works initially but deteriates very quickly. I recently bought a replacement engine and noticed that the seller must have had the same probs as on exactly the same place was a wedge of exhaust paste. Can anyone tell me if this is a common problem with these engines, and any usefull tips on solving this problem. Anyhelp would be much appreciated.

Sounds like the threads on the studs or nuts might be knacked. If they dont compress the ring it wont seal.Worth trying as its very cheap to rectify.:)

Thanxs for the reply, but I apologise, as I forgot to say in post that they are new studs and nuts.

Have u tried undoing the next joint down and realigning the pipe and retightening?Cant see it can be rocket science tis only a steel pipe.Is the pipe itselfsplit?;)

What Turboman says, try slackening off the next joint down, then further back, check the exhaust hangers are all oki anorl, then re tighten the whole thing starting with the manifold joint and aligning it up.
