110 county V8

Hi folks
I am considering purchasing a 110 County V8. I am unfazed by the fuel consumption being heavier than the four Classic V8 RRC's I've owned over the past two decades as my annual mileage, for what will be a second car, is unlikely to exceed 1k miles, but realise that this model is about as common as the proverbial rocking-horse droppings.
My preference would be for the post '86 model but these seem to be even scarcer than earlier examples, so I will pose the question(s) ..
Can anything be done to improve on the 114 bhp ie do these earlier engines have any form of inlet manifold restrictors like the Stage one?
Is it possible to fit an overdrive unit to the 4 speed 'box?

My 88 3.5 v8 csw110 was basic with su carbs and 5 speeds lt85 gearbox.
Others was injection 3.9 4.2 later had to have adaptive sleeves for the piston wall due to cracking.
Higher models were mainly autobox with extra knobs on the dash for twiddling with.

I had a 1986 V8 90 CSW in the early 2000’s. It did around 18-20 MPG on a good day but it was a great Landy! It is the one that I have regretted selling to this day, but at the time, the fuel consumption with my mileage was too much. The engine was the standard carb V8 but not restricted like the Stage 1 V8. Overdrives are available. I never looked into one though.

Mine was a v8. Used to buzz along & enjoyed the reliability of the SU.
No need for overdrive will pull all gears well

the other landy went 3.9 fully lightened & balanced.still on carbs & stoped in 4 speed box

Easy to sort the v8, put a range rover manifold on it. Give it a decent service and tune, keep the brakes in good order, they are decent motors

I had Strombergs on my old RRC and they were a nightmare to get balanced if I remember rightly. The SU’s were much better.
