Hi everyone,

Quick question before I start pulling truck apart. I have a 110 hicap with a 200tdi in it. Around town it’s fine but on the motorway it gets hold. Cruising at 60 the gauge goes up to the top of the white. When I pull off and use normal roads it slowly goes back down. I have flushed the system but water still turns rusty. Can’t decide what to try first maybe thermostat?

Thanks for tips

Ian

check rad gets hot all over, but as you say coolant turns rusty change head gasket

If the radiator is original there's a chance it's blocked internally. A TDi should be able to cope easily with 60Mph without overheating. It might be worth taking the rad out and reverse flushing it - look for chunks of the internal baffles coming out!
