Had a search about but mostly diesels seem affected.

On the way to work was driving along happily (yes - happy in a hippo!) and it started juddering and losing power. I pulled over and will pick the car up later on. Any ideas what to check out or try for this?

It's full of fuel - filled yesterday but was pretty low before hand.

It's a 98' 1.8 petrol. And it won't be getting set on fire before that all starts....... ;)

Thanks in advance for the sensible replies!

Must admit that's what I was thinking along the lines of. I was going to be late for work so just left it. I'll have to go recover it and have a look when I've got time.

Ok so if I burn it the hippo, how long will it burn for with a full tank?

Yeah I'd go with fuel filter, may even be a blocked breather in the fuel tank. Classic case of peeps filling up to the brim before the holiday season, then los of power.

Take it for a spin with the fuel cap off.

Awesome - just stumbled along this thread and strangely enough it all made sense!

Got my td4 last week - naturally it was on empty when purchased. Filled it up to drive the 4 hours home and it did the judder thing, but not too alarmingly. Second tank and the judder was less.

Just had it fully serviced by our local garage affectionately known as 'the boys down the road' so hopefully that will take care of either cause (filter or breather).

Amazing what you can learn! Cheers :D :D :D
