1.8 petrol how many Electric fans?

i have a 2001 1.8 petrol freelander. S trim model so quite basic and no air con.

the electric fan cradle in front on the radiator has only one fan in it. There is no second fan next to it.

At idle the temp gauge sits at the half way mark but I have not seen the fan cut in.

Should there be a second fan or did only air con vehicles get two fans.

The previous owner has just done the head gasket so I don't want to boil the old girl.

Only the AC gets both fans. The non AC Freelander doesn't need any more than one fan.

The hippo I was breaking didn't have a fbh fitted so I cannot help you I'm afraid. Did try to start a conversation/ message thing but not sure if you received it.

Hopefully the HG was done properly, or it'll fail again quite soon.

Yes I did get the conversation. I get lots of conversation requests and sometimes forget to reply to them all. Don't worry about the sensor. I'll get one at some point.
