I've got a 1.8 2005 XEI and just recently its started juddering when u pull away, has anyone herd of this?

Do you get any unusual noises when engaging drive after turning a corner or when you reberse round a bend ?

My wifes car (MY02 TD4) had a slight judder on pull off and made a clunk from the rear when turning a corner and then engaging 2nd gear on pull away, this proved to be the top Diff mount at the rear.
I have just had it done today and the car is perfect again, ohh the part was £10ish from LR but was fitted under warranty by my dealer in about 1/2 an hour.

i've also got a 1.8 2005 XEI (feb) and have the same problem as you, just had it in for its first service and i mentioned the problem to the service guy. he said they couldn't find a problem. judder still there on pulling away (and reversing). i got a call yesterday from landrover aftercare and i mentioned the dealer hadn't cleared the problem and they said they would contact the dealer...i'm now waiting for a call.

Could it be as simple as an oil seal gone on the clutch? If oil gets on the clutch the car will judder when pulling away in 1st and reverse, especially as these are the gears that get the Freelander in motion from a stand still. Seems unlikely on such a new car though.

I checked the oil thinking I might be losing some but in fact the garage had put 2 large jam jars too much in!! I had to drain it out, this would be the reason for why the seal has gone, its alot better now but still not right its got its first service next month so I’ll get them to sort it out then!
