i've been having a little trouble with my 2004TD4.
Driving down the road i start to feel the engine holding back slightly on low revs and then it will start to die, even with gear dropped down and foot to the floor.
Give it a minute and restart it it starts fine but it's not long before it starts holding back again.
It will also die at junctions etc sometimes if the revs aren't kept high.
Took it to a garage and they said there is an aftermarket injector in it playing up and they want to charge me £500 to fit a new one !!
Wife ran out of diesel a few weeks ago and called out the AA.
He hooked it up and said there was a problem with the fuel pressure sensor.
Not sure who to believe now or what to try.
Not yet changed fuel filter or tried injector cleaner.
When it starts to hold back the engine management light does very briefly flash up.

:5biagree:......fuel filter and maybe tank pickup being the best place to start.

I think you can ignore the aftermarket injector advice this would give a non-start/regular misfire problem. I would go with the AA diagnostic scan re: fuel pressure problems. You don't state mileage? perhaps it's time to change fuel pump o/s/r wheel arch and fuel filter.

Thanks for the help lads.
A fiddle about with the fuel pressure sensor showed me that one of the wires was perished.
I've Jerry rigged it for now becouse L/R only do the whole unit that the plug connects to at £180.
I'm sure a scour of breakers could get me just the plug for less than a fiver if it goes belly up again but i'll see how long my soldering job holds up.
God damn cowboys, i'm going back to get the £25 thay charged me to look at it, and even if i don't get it i'll feel a lot better by the time i walk out !!
