My mate’s wife bought a K series, sight unseen and without consulting him, and it has been a bit of a saga...
It overheated, and I replaced the water pump for him (just spinning on its axis, not pumping). The timing was also out a tooth. It then dropped a valve, even though I got the timing marks lined up with the proper tool.
He didn’t want to spend much money, so I replaced the exhaust valves and put on a polymer gasket. Now it overheats - yes, the head should have been skimmed.
It’s black, with sidesteps, and the bodywork and interior are in good nick. VCU starting to stiffen, and a leak in the exhaust. I’ve forgotten the mileage, and battery is now flat, but not much, somewhere around 80,000, but I’ll check.
Very much a project, but if he can salvage something out of it, he’ll be happy. Wife has divested all responsibility. £450? It’s in Inverness. At a pinch, I could trailer it to you.
