04 Freelander acceleration problem

I'm thinking of picking up a 2004 Freelander SE awd with a 2.5l v6. The owner said the car starts and runs but only goes 15mph. He is asking $500 or best offer. Wondering if the fix is easy or a major problem that will cost too much.

Yes. One of the 2.

There's not a lot to go on there. Reading the diagnostic codes might give a better idea.

Unless you know the KV6 engine and Jatco gearbox inside out, then I'd avoid it. There aren't many specialists for the KV6, and it's a complicated beast to fix at home, unless you're very skilled.
