02Freelander 1 TD4

Hi Guys,

Ok I just got rid of my old 02 Hippo 1 TD4 for a 04 TD4 face lift model. I have now inherited another 02 freelander 1 TD4 3 for.

It runs on when you turn of the ignition for about 6 seconds. What would be the cause of this.

I want to restore it and use it. SORN at the moment what do I need to do to sort it.

it would need to cover BMW DDE4


Does it smoke , is it a bit slow to start , does it misfire at start up ?

There is a bit of smoke from time to time
Bit nothing bad. The engine is very oily.

What do you all think to me pressure washing the engine. is it something I should do or should I steer clear of a pressure washer in there?

Electrical stuff!

Use a gunk off type product. This hoses off instead of pressure washing.

have you checked the crankcase breather filter ?

could be the turbo playing up with the running on check it out before it does not stop running on because if it is the turbo it is taking oil from the engine ,next thing is a blown engine

Take the elbow inlet pipe off the egr, that will give an indication of how much oil is going through to the inlet manifold.

Yep the elbow pipe is black and sticky with oil. What do I do. :-/
