02 defender td5 starts then stops

hi all new to this site got a 02 td5 90 county its started to cut out straight after starting then wont go at all had the wiring checked and a broken wire was found over the gearbox which made the alarm flash the hazzards again but still no start had it taken in my local independant and they say it was a alarm learning fault they got it running but it did it again got no mill light on dash can anyone help as need my truck for work

could be the immobiliser

prob not this but mine cuts out occasionally after starting and it's the fuel spill pipes loose. I nip them up and all is well.

TD5 dont have them.

Hi Butler 4x4, did you ever fix this? Sounds very similar to my problem - see my post here.

Engine runs for 3 seconds then just cuts out, eventually works OK, then its perfect - no misfires etc. SOunds very much like the immobiliser - wondered if theres any way to bypass immobiliser just to emiminate it
- Im not trying to nick one honest!
