Hello

I’m new on here and just posted “love the green oval” in introduce yourself.

Got a 05 plate l322, suspension was very slow to change height yesterday. Anyway lost all the lights on the suspension control, no indication of actual height and nothing when you try and adjust the height control. Display on dash says “Air susp inactive”

Obviously I have checked the fuse but its Ok, so before I start reading and looking anymore does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

If all the lights are off on the height selector.....it has gone into a hard fault. You'll need to plug it into diagnostics to find out what the ECU is complaining about.

Unfortunatly, without plugging it into diagnostics we could be pee'ing into the wind with guesses as there are multiple failure modes that can produce a hard fault.

A hard fault usually means the system cannot determine vehicle position or maintain vehicle position so for safety it will shut the entire system down instead of 'guessing' what attitude the vehicle is in.

A soft fault (indicated when the light on the current height and the hold light are illuminated on the control dial along with the Air Susp Inactive warning on the dash) means the system is sure it knows what attitude the vehicle is in, but can't maintain height changes or accuratly control height changes, so it locks the vehicle at one ride height and tries to keep it there.

Diagnostics are the first port of call I am afraid to find out why the system has gone into fault.

many many thanks, I have a normal fault code reader but I guess it needs to go somewhere with proper diagnostic equipment?

Probably worth investing in diagnostics if you plan to keep it.
I believe the icarsoft is good for listing and clearing faults but can't calibrate the suspension if you need to ( @Saint.V8 will be able to confirm what it can or can't do)

Thanks for the replies, called in the local landrover specialist this evening and its a front leaking air bag,
Do I ask on here or post a new question?
Does anyone have experience good / bad of aftermarket air bags and also is it a difficult job to fit? They recommended changing the whole leg as getting all the seals in the bag is a nightmare? Apparently 1 - 1.5 hours, I'm quite handy with the spanners !
Thanks again for your help

Not good to change just one as the other side will most likely fail soon. safer to change both.

As far as I know the choice is Dunlop or Delphi, one of the makes is known to clonk going over bumps, I think it was Dunlop but not 100%
@holidaychicken I believe did his and will know.
And as Data said change them both we have hade too many change only one for the other side too go shortly after.

I think Delphi aren’t much more than Dunlop and I’m sure my Dunlop knock which is a known fault that Dunlop ignore no matter what type of communication method you choose to try and contact them about it.
I would never buy Dunlop because of their terrible customer service if nothing else

Yes but your suspension gets a right hammering down the dogging sites, no wonder they ignore you.;):D
