Ive never owned a 4x4 before and have noticed on a couple of occasions within the last few days of people muttering something as i go past or giving dirty looks, both times they have had a passenger. Just didn't expect it considering currently mine being muddy as i took it through some muddy lane so it's not like mm look at me I have a 4x4 to drive me round town...

does anyone else get this.........:)

Some people have nothing better to get upset and annoyed at trivial things. Chances are they could have been annoyed that you have a car with mud on it - some just dont like others having fun I reckon!

I had this issue with a Petrol Station attendant on the way back from Manby - the attendant had a right go because a small peice of mud dropped onto his forecourt when I stopped the landie. He came out with a broom and whacked my land rover, then his wife came out to join in LOL, was quite a scene! Whilst a friend was calling the police, I assured them that if they dare touch my car again I would drive it through the front of the shop. Perhaps a stupid thing to say (or do!) but it stopped them from doing it. Police arrived 10 minutes later and gave them a good telling off. That's my little story for the day - to answer that you are not the only one!

Oh and apparently my Land Rover is a waste of space and an eyesore to the street according to some! Like that will make me any more likely to get rid of it!

rofl :D

Had someone come and give me a gobful through my (obviously open) window before. Something about polluting the atmosphere and taking up too much of the road...he wasn't even driving!

Solution? I closed the window...

had some tree huggers call the disco a Gas Guzzling monster.

Me; but it doesn't run on gas
them you know what we mean how much petrol do you use in a week.
me none
them hey?
me it's a diesel and I run it on waste veg oil!!
Them OH!
Me is that you're mini cooper s there?
them yes.
me ****ing hypocritical ****ers **** off ya cuunts.. :D :D

Next time explain to them that for only a few mpg less than their "economical" car's most LR's can carry 7+ people and luggage & will probably be still be on the road when their eco-friendly modern car's are scrapped ...

And maybe enlighten them to the fact that a single eruption from a volcano release's more toxin's to our atmosphere/ozone than all the car's in the world could possibly produce in their lifetime on the road.

Personally if any one came up to me spouting cr@p about my Disco killing the planet I'd probably lose it with em big style, feckin know-all's too thick to realise this "global-warming" lark is purely a natural cycle for our planet and is now a convenient way for our Govt's to rip us off for more tax.

Rant over:p

me old man got a telling off in his disco once. Some posh bird got the arse cos we pulled into a parking space whilst she was missing gears whilst on the phone :mad:We both ripped into the bird and mentioned the tow bar.Which he uses to tow his caravan (soz trewy) which is much more eco friendly than using an aeroplane for ya holidays which are the most harmful per passenger mile.Bird then got back in her c class merc coupe the turbo one!

Ive not had any problems before. Maybe im just ignorant. I did laugh today though. On the Bristol ring road I went steaming past a Toyota Prius being driven by an old man. I just looked at him and smiled as my side exit exhaust was alongside his toy. :)

Just look these pompous ill-informed and boring individuals as if they were the dirt on the bottom of your shoe. Treat them with utter contempt and make them feel like worthless scum even before they open their mouth to spout off.

Because that is all they deserve.

If you are in the Landy when they start talking to you press the loud pedal so that you can't hear them :)

move to mid wales - every bugger runs a landy or some other slitty:)

a few facts as I see em:-

Global warming is real and it is partly due to our emissions BUT the time when we could have an impact is 20yrs past so it's time to adjust to floods and so on.

battery powered cars - ask the tossers in these if they no owt about nickel mining. probably the worst polluter there is ( apart from lead)

REAL greenys know full well that a car that is maintained and kept for a long time will always trump a short life one. most of the CO2 and other pollution comes at either end of the life cycle - construction and disposal.

people moan about diesel, but everything brought in the shops is totally and utterly dependant on the diesel engine - you cant grow/ship/freight without it. and my 300tdi runs on WVO.

bollox to the so called green consumerists out there real environmentalism comes from non consumption - by good quality, look after it and it will last for fooking years.

right thats me rant done with

if they don't like me or my landy i don't care a fook, take me for what i am or fook right off!
can't really say too much as it's already been said by many others, landy's last many times longer than the average car and are looked after far more than any other car.
long live the green oval!

i had a prickus driver have a go at me a few months ago, i asked him how much energy went into the production and shipping of his plastic car, no answer.....

so i said, my landrover was built in 1974, it was made in Solihull, it did not require shipping halfway across the world, it has very few parts made from plastic, the plastic which is a made by refining oil, also my landy has a diesel engine that is running on waste veg oil this makes it carbon neutral as the replacement crop is absorbing the carbon created when this is burned, your little box is running on petrol........ and sometimes battery power, your box caused more pollution in its manufacture than mine has created in its entire 35 year history! so who is damaging the world???

box driver : but yours is 4x4 ..........

me : i wanna stop you there its in 2wd at the moment so get your facts strait before you go mouthing off

I've not had any comments while in my Landy, but funny enough this morning on the way to work, some nosey git pulled alongside me and beckoned me to wind down my window, then asked me if it was foggy out?

I had my front fog lamps on but how does he know what the weather was like on my 60 mile trip to London.... :(

I would not mind but he was totally sarcastic.

I just said yes mate and wound the window back up.

(Before anyone comments, it was dark, misserable and misty in Essex this morning. :( )
