Hi Guys

Just done the front mounting bush on my td4 this morning have read before to drop the subframe to allow room to remove the bush when i tried to move the subframe bolts they were well tight/rusted so what i managed to do was to carefully bend the front flange about 1/2" and push the diff over to the right and this allowed me to remove the old bush and replace with a nice new orange polyurethane one £19.01 on good old e-bay test drove it and was well pleased with how much better and overall quieter she drove.

Have a good weekend

Gordon:)

Hi I need to do mine
so you never droped the subframe then
what front flange did you bend to move the diff over
you just replaced the old bush with a new one
was it easy to replace I looked on ebay and it said you need a vice or press to put the new bush in

Hi Gordon
Great job with the diff mount, can I suggest that you get some lubrication inside the chassis in case you need to drop the rear subframe again for other jobs. There are pop-out blanking discs in the rear floor near the wheel arches, put something under car to catch drips and pump in loads of whatever you've got around the captive nuts.D..

You dont have to drop the subframe or remove the prop shaft to change the diff mounts. Just take the center bolts out of the rear ones and the diff will move over enough to get the front mounting out. It takes about half an hour to change the front mounting.

When you get the mounting off how easy is it to take the old bush out and replace it with a Polyurethane one

:) Hi Dann

Thanks for the tip i never thought of doing that i was just praying i never needed the subframe out , will keep me busy next Saturday

Thanks again

Gordon

I can't remember pushing the bush out of the aluminium carrier, but as I still have the carrier I must have done, so it can't be that hard or I wouldn't of bothered. The hole in the carrier is 59.3 mm so if the outside metal ring of your new bush is an interferance fit for this hole, it should be fairly easy to change. (the carrier is 15mm thick)

I replaced my Rear Diff Front Mount a few weeks ago...Bought Mount ,It comes complete Bush an all..Removed 3 Bolts Removed old Diff Mount ,.Replaced with New Put back 3 Bolts ,.Job done,.No Subframe removal or bending things,.:) Bout 15mins...Job Done...

Thanks to everybody for their advice going to replace bush with Polyurethane one they last 3 times longer than the normal ones

Mine lasted six years, how long are you thinking your Freelander is going to last ? another 18 years ?

The bush will be there long after the freelander has gone
but at lest I will have pice of mind that It will not bother me again
