East midlands,
I have a sailsbury diff on my 110 at the moment and looking to fit a disco back axle (i like discs):D

with the diff being shorter i need a longer prop but from what?

no idea, Ian - but i am sure you will let us know :D. I believe it was max weight - coz the 110 has a higher carrying capacity when fully loaded.

i woz told that a disco one aint any good - coz it wont take the weight - thats why 110's have salisbury axles.
The disco is rated to carry a fook of a weight over the back axle and is also designed to tow 3500kg same as a 110. I reckon it's an old wives tale that it ain't strong enough.

A 110 can carry alot more than legally allowed land rover kept it low because of tax legislation on vehicles that can carry alot. A salisbury axle has 24splines internal and external and has stronger thicker shafts the diff is also superior to land rover toffee unit, as it is 4 pin and extremely strong its easy to get a broken shaft out not that you will break one Jai
