Afternoon,

I was under my disco last night and I noticed that between the crank pulley and the sump, there's a threaded hole in the bottom of the timing case (water pump housing?) It's directly underneath, on the very bottom of the housing. There's a little bit of oil around it but nothing major - is ther 'sposed to be a bolt or something in it?

I've put a diagram on but will try and take a proper photo if I'm not making any sense.

When u go in deep water 0.5 metre u screw a Wading Plug into the hole. At other times leave it out.

It's because oil seals do weep and if one was to leak badly you would rarther it comming out than build up and degrade your timing belt and have a wrecked engine on your hands. you also have one in your bellhousing (behind the sump) depending on what gearbox you have. Jai
