Hi all, Just joined for some advice about a 1976 defender I`m thinking of buying, its got 50,000 on clock, pick up and its priced at £1695.00. Would you advise if this is a good price.
Its an old p reg, I was unsure if it was a defender or the series 3 model thats why i thought id ask some advice, its on ebay and i thought it seemed a right nice motorwell that wont be a defender
that will be a series 3.
the earliest defenders were built some time in the 1980s.

Ask for some piccies of the bulkhead near the window brackets and under the bonnet, same around the door hinges. Also a few piccies of the chassis especially either side of the rear spring where it dips down. Faillin' that, go and have a good look at it with a screwdriver for pokin' and a hammer for chappin' thingswill you chaps check this 1 out for me, I have not got alot of money but quite fancy a project, here is the item number

Thanks for the advice Bustersbus, im going to look at some more is this the rule of thumb for all these???, I can go up to £2500 but really fancy a project rather than buying 1 ready to jump in and goAsk for some piccies of the bulkhead near the window brackets and under the bonnet, same around the door hinges. Aye pretty much. The screwdriver let's ye check uj's, bushes, etc. The hammer is for chapping the chassis to listen for dead spots, it should kinda 'ring' when ye hit it. If the chassis is no good ye're best to walk away. Forgot to mention before, check yer back cross member aswell, especially the inside where the chassis meets it. It's quite prone to rustin', not a big deal really if it's goin' to be a project as ye can buy replacement ones. Thanks for the advice Bustersbus, im going to look at some more is this the rule of thumb for all these???, I can go up to £2500 but really fancy a project rather than buying 1 ready to jump in and go
