Silly questions keep rolling from me...

How the feck do you tell if your headlight is xenon or halogen apart from the obvious take the element out and see?

Ive attached some pics of my headlights, im assuming from the projectors that they are xenon, but the light is very yellow/orange? Can't see any markings on the light that suggest its one or the other, unless im being blind. Thye have the LED running lights if that helps.

My freely is a 2013/14

I would guess halogen. You should be able to get to the bulb. Halogen will light up at full output instantly. Xenon may flicker as you turn them on and gradually increase in brightness.

Park up to a wall, then switch lights on, if they are full brightness instantly they are halogens, if they take a second to get to full brightness then they are Hid/Xenon.

The label has HAL printed on it, so it left the factory with halogen H9 bulbs. The label for xenon headlamps have XEN on the labke.
It's pretty common for aftermarket HIDs to be fitted in place of the standard H9s, as the halogen bulbs are pathetic, and last no time at all. If aftermarket HIDs are fitted, the BCM will flag a bulb fault.

When you say halogens last no time at all.. can you elaborate? I've never felt replacement had been often, whereas HIDs start to after months and recommended to replace every couple of years with brightness dropping off after 1500 hours

I thought that was a clue, yet part of me went 'it cant be that simple'. Thanks!
