They call them things "planchas" over 'ere. All the rave apparently. We cannot be bothered, only the same as a frying pan with no sides.We have 1 pretty much the same.
We also have a flat cast iron plate with griddle ridges 1 side and flat on the other, for use on the BBQ or over 2 rings on the cooker.

Used to be called "hot plates" and restaurant kitchens have them all over the world, on top of their cookers, they put pans on them. Guess they are easier to clean and spread the heat more evenly.
