I hate to imagine what this lot would be like at a 'pay and play'..
Used to be one in staffs.. don't know if it's still there but back in the day has a rep for lawless carnage. Vehicles getting rolled.. vehicles coming the other way when you're committed on a hill etc etc utter dumbfúckery.. people got seriously injured in the end

Been to plenty of pay & play days where I have not even bothered driving.
By us they just put the motors in the deepest things they could find & winch all day.
I’m sure none of these drivers could do a challenge event(punch hunt). & last a day.

Done a couple of punch hunts in my old RRC.. it was fun! Mostly RTV trials on my 2A.. also huge fun, could never keep up with folks on the massive tyres though and the 90s turning circle

IMO this is what happens when it gets to the point where TD5 discos are cheap as chips and plentiful. Any idiot with a couple of grand spare can pick up a D2/3 or an older Range rover... or any other flavour of cheapo 4x4.

Although to play devils advocate is there a wider issue with clubs not being so inclusive and widespread now? My nearest club just seems to be all trials etc, and when I get around to finally ironing out enough issues on my 110 I'd just like head off somewhere with a few people and have fun, much like what the guys in the video are doing. I've been around Land Rovers for years but the club side of things and offroading is something I've never been involved with so have no experience of.

Just some thoughts anyway as I have been watching Chris' videos on and off for some time.

You can have fun and enjoy yourself without being an arse and driving illegal vehicles illegally.............. don't you think?

Absolutely, but the point I was getting at is do they know any better? Who's telling them what they should and shouldn't be doing? Who are the good examples to follow?

Ok you could argue that they should've all read the GLASS guidelines etc but I can imagine a lot of people don't. Again I'm not defending these guys but just trying to put a different view across. Ultimately bashing people on forums feels a bit unproductive as it just creates a divide between two groups. Then the other group are just like f*** this, f*** you and just go and do their own thing anyway and 💩 all over it for other people. I see the same thing in other communities... Youtube etc really doesn't help either as people see the videos and then go and follow suit like a herd of sheep.

Why do people need to be told how to behave?
All sorts of behaviour is available to be seen on the Internet, some just fine some not, doesn't make it an excuse.
The group in the video know full well they were driving where they shouldn't and don't care. It's not like they made a genuine mistake and took the wrong track.
Youtube is not directly to blame although they provide the platform to show the videos. Some channels are good some just there desperate for likes to try and make a couple of quid.
The thread isn't really about "bashing" people but bringing to attention how our own "community" spoil our own pastimes for ourselves. That is the very behaviour that closes byways for the sensible byway users.
You must realise that 4x4 owners, especially as per video, are pretty much universally hated by other byway users? I can't say that I am surprised by people's negative views towards people driving on byways.
So when the councils close another lane we can sit back, watch the video ( and many more like it) and think , it's all our fault but atleast they had a good time in the video.

I’ve been green laning since I got my first Landy in the early 90’s. I started with some friends who were members of a local off road club which was mostly into trials. We went in groups of two or three and didn’t tear up the lanes or drive off piste. Ultimately, it’s common sense and treating the lanes how they should be treated that ensures they are kept open for us all. Big groups and illegal activity gets the, closed and draws attention to us as a whole. They shouldn’t need educating in basics. And if they’re members of GLASS, they will know better. I’m a member and their newsletters etc actively promote responsible use of green lanes. No excuse for the behaviour of this group I’m afraid.
