TD4 MAF Sensor
Hi All. I've a friend with a very sluggish TD4 and I suggested pulling the MAF. I've just been outside and popped my bonet in the hope of sending a photo and low and behold, i've not got a clue. On my Passat and my girlfriends car its very obviously on the pipe after the airbox... also is on...

As above remove the air filter cover and the MAF is left top has you stand in front of the car, you could always do this MOD to the filter cover.

Thank everybody for the info and especially the photos. I better get one of those things ordered. But while I"m on I hope to put the car in for an MOT in August so I"ll book a Service and have Engine and Auto box Oil and Filter changed and they can fit the MAF sensor at the same time. Should I also use REDDEX or something similar to reduce Emissions?

When you are due to have the MOT on the day give it a good 10 miles thrashing (Italian tune up,) arriving at the MOT station about 5 minutes before your due time, that way engine will be nice and hot which helps with the gas test.
Regarding the MAF get a proper one Bosch MHK101130L after market ones do not last long and can be crap right out of the box.

The most important part is the insert it must have a green seal and read

Stick a bottle of this in your tank about a week before the MOT.
I use this twice a year spring and start of winter, hence why i buy four as i have two FL2
Good luck with the MOT my FL2 had it's first in my ownership last week pass no advisories.

They are only awkward on the Freelander !! BMW use the engine inline, so they are easy to access !!
