What did you do with your Range Rover today

What's the deal with flat/frameless wipers? Need some new ones for the l322 and these came up at a reasonable price. Looks like the same fitment

So, the LHD P38 passed the CT (MOT) with no advisories so we did our biweekly long shopping run in it and found it had developed the dreaded 60mph shimmy:-( All the steering joints are new as are the CV joints, It was not there before the CT so when we got home I checked the tyre pressure as the tester always checks the pressure. The plonker had blown the fronts up to 40psi. Back down at 28psi, I'm hopeful the shimmy has gone.
This afternoon I spent pulling useful bits off the scrapper. Mirrors, WABCO pump assembly, rotary coupler, indicator stalks, interior door handles, EAS dryer and the crank damper.

When i got my 322, the tyres had been inflated to between 50-55psi

Most of the other good stuff I took off ages ago. I'd like to get the gearbox and transfer box off but I think that's beyond me. The engine is toast, cracked head.

I'll have to look it up but the FIP is not for sale. 156837 miles when scrapped.

Checked the sunroof drains which were clear

Had to clean the scuttle drains out tho


Boring, but worth checking

Edit to add
Just whipped the oil filter out to check spigot was located correctly

because the light flickered on at idle earlier. Its completely dry! Last drove it 4hrs ago, this aint normal is it??

We just did a six month interim service today on our 2006 3.0 TDi Range Rover Vogue, used the extractor pump to change the oil, wish I had owned one back in the day! Immaculate change absolutely NO oil spillage on the driveway or anywhere else, possibly the best £40 that I have ever spent of vehicle service gizmo's. Of course being an old RR it had to provide some 'entertainment' which it did in the form of one of the hex bolts on the air cleaner cover refusing to be reseated, but apart from that all good. Old oil filter was grim looking as was the air filter, real PITA changing the 'Elephant's tusk'! I use semi synthetic oil on the old girl which seems a happy medium but am amazed at how crap it soon gets to look when checking the oil levels, will probably do a full engine flush next service just to be sure.

Diesels amost always turn the oil black immediately

That don look like it’s had oil near it, let alone 4hrs ago.
was it oily at all?

There was oil in the bottom of the filter housing, but the paper element was dry as a bone no leaks evident around filter and housing either.

It takes around 3 to 4 secs for oil light to go out on start up and it flickered on once today at idle just after start up.

P.o said he serviced it about 800miles ago now, I've checked air/pollen filters and they're brand new so evidently he did.

I was working on the assumption he'd put oil filter in without locating the spigot on the bottom but it wasn't crushed or deformed at all.

Cars parked nose up on a steepish drive but can't see that making any difference

Is it the same as the 4.4 with the filter on the top of the engine?

Try parking nose down.

Yeah, pretty much mate. And the tdv6 just with crank fit for purpose they eat turbos instead tho....

Reckon that's worth a shot? It takes same time for oil light to go out on the level...I'm going to throw a genuine filter in on monday regardless

Think the genuine filter would be a good place to start with.

Worst case, yeah, but its been running fine all week. Did about 50miles in it today

When i changed mine it was pretty dry, I'd gone for a drive to warm it a bit, loosened the filter housing then sucked the oil out via the tube. By the time I'd got to taking the filter out it looked similar. Not dry, but everything that could have dripped out had done so. It's thin oil so doesn't take long
Mine is the 4.4
