Funny Black Box

In my 2002 td4 in the back tool box department when you lift the lid most of the space is taken up by a black box with wires connected and it is screwed to the lid. please on of you poms enlighten me ??

I have the Haynes manual and it is not in there. I also bought it with an after market "Chip" in it any ideas ? Got **** loads od go though

might be a subwoofer or amp. mines a millenium limited edition with harmon kardon sound system and the floor box in the boot is screwed shut with a f='#ing great big subwoofer in it.

Well, I would hardly call the sub "f='#ing great big". Its a 6 inch speaker. The black box is only a cover to protect the speaker. Nothing else in the box

But yes the black box is a sub-woofer (assuming it is Harmon Kardon). The amp is under the passenger seat.
