rito, with all this talk of gettin disco's versus gettin defenders, it has got me thinkin bout should I convert, and swap my defender for a disco. are there any MAJOR problems with discos that I should be aware of?infact is there any BENEFIT to havin a defender at all?it seems that they perform th same off road, neither are as gay as a freelander and discos are more refined. I have a 90 and hav fook all room. discos can hold 7 i hear!wats their footprint like compared to a 90 though?I rekon I would get 6k MAX for my defender (with all its nice shiney new parts!), would that get a reasonable disco?any opinions on the pros and cons of disco COMPARED TO A DEFENDER-get 'em posted.

£577 quid for the 90, yer can get a disco fir that money :)

Your 90 has a shorter wheelbase, but unless you do lots of offroading I guess the bootspace will outweigh the length. In your position I would have a deepender maybe swap the 90 for a 110, but thats just me.

hmmm, space for passengers, not gettin stuck in sand, and ease/low repair costs are most important. Offroadin is mainly beach based. this is u and ur mates fault!i wasnt thinkin bout this til it became a hot topic!

the defender was rulin cos of offroadin ability but if its true a disco is just as good then i'm bein swayed...d'ya no 'ow much shorted a 90 is than a disco?get ur mate out with a tapemeasure will ya!

and i'm guessin 2 of them 7 seats is in the boot? (I'v never peared into a disco!)

Look on Auto trader and ebay and compare disco's and defender that are going round the 6k mark.

i imagine I can get an ok one for 6k, will take a gander at autotrader though, any idea if they have any real pain in th ass quirks?i'm guessin they are more electricity based so more expensive when go wrong...i'l browse the disco section on here i think

Have PMed him about the length lol. Yeah I dunno, I'm in your camp as far as loving the deepender, If I had the money I'd have one hands down, it just seems from what people say that you get a bit more for your money with a disco. sorry! :p

agree with ya!fink for the cash ya do get more for ur cash, 'owever a defender is a classic..i may wait and see 'ow ur buddy and u(when ya get ur disco) turn out for a few months before I decide!me own disco guinea pigs!

Haha will let you know. James has grown very attached to his, is a bit wary about breaking it! But I think mine shall be abused, so we will see!

a Disco will RUST! Although Ali well corrode just as bad in a salt water environment.
Both are (almost) as capable as each other off road - the Disco has a slightly bigger rear overhang. The Disco is, however MUCH more "civilised" and refined, having a radio you can listen too and a lot have air con as well. You will also get more Disco for your money, as Defenders hold their price marginally better.
I think it boils down to do you want comfort or out-n-out off roading capability.

ah rust...dint think off that...that dont seem to be too much of an issue with my defender, as long as i dont get caught out my the tide!your disco, bobtailed, wat is that then??i aint too concerned with comfort, but decent seatin is an issue with my 90 (no-one likes the idea of sittin in't back of mine surprisingly especially the mrs...

thanks james, so thats about 5 inches longer than me 90...where's all th space gone in my defender!!
