P38 Air spring bags P38 / Classic

Hi
Some challenges to get hold of a complete set of air spring bags (rubber bag only) for my P38. Used to have Arnott replacement bags, but now they have started seeping some air, and Arnott does not sell the bags only anymore.

Found air spring bags for RR Classic on the ebay, and a comment that they can also be used for the P38.
Anybody who can confirm this?

Don't know about Arnott's but I replaced mine with Dunlop's and have had no issues and they were easy to get just by them self. However, did order new pins and clips to fit as often the old ones are worn or knackerd by the time you get them out.
 
Arnott springs are available eBay number 234099369785 for the front but at the price I never bothered looking for the rears £196.55each or if you buy two they are £186.92 each.not a hope in hell.:eek::D
 
Still not a hope, Dunlop's are more than sufficient IMO.
I agree at that price they are too much. I fitted Arnotts to my original P38 12 years ago, I got them on a promotional offer so they were very little more than Dunlops, they still look like new. For the project car I got Dunlops as the Arnotts are now just too expensive, especially considering in another 5 years we may not be able to use these cars:(
 
I am looking after the rubber bags only as the top of my springs are so corroded that I cant remove the clip to get the whole thing out. To change the rubber while the spring is still in the car is a piece of cake, soapy water and an air compressor connected to the air line. Just as making a tire enter the rim.

Are the tops alloy or plastic? the alloy tops can be difficult but the plastic ones split out without too much trouble. Not sure I would want to just replace the bag, quite likely the housing in which the top sits will also be rusty and would benefit from a clean up and rust treatment.
 
They are plastic ones, but unable to remove the clip. I do not want to start the process of removing them completely now when the snow has arrived, that can wait until summer comes.
Have found replacement rubber for RR classic, so one question is if the classic rubber can be used on a P38?

Why? Replace as a whole unit, don't worry about the clips and pins,order new ones and just lever the end from the car the old ones will shear off save messing around. Make sure you give the mounting faces a good clean to ensure a good fit for the new end caps.

As above, the plastic caps can easily be removed with a suitable size pry bar.

We had a really long screw driver same diameter as clips. Cut the end off to make a long punch, worked a treat to clear holes and bits of broken clip
