Cleaned up the rear of the chassis just got to paint it now, run out of paint so ordered more, will fetch it tomorrow.
Mean while, decided to remove the rear bumper so I can clean up the rear tubular cross member and inspect the steel bumper . Heard they can be a problem so went slow and steady on the two torx bolts underneath, got the passenger side one out with lots of plus gas and patience, the driver's side was on its way out then decided to round off. I've been at it for 2 hrs, irwen bolt removers just tickled it to death, careful heat did nothing so I resorted to cutting the bracket that the bolt goes through which is welded to the steel bumper so I can at least get the bumper off and have access to remove the bolt. I know I've now got to make new brackets and weld them on but I've no choice. Unfortunately access to that bracket is poor as well but as one side of the 3 had rotted I figured it would split off fairly easily....it didn't . Gave up for today and have a think how best to attack it tomorrow.

Here’s the dog

You got lucky. My passenger side was a total f*cker and had to be drilled out, not helped by the tow hook which stops the drill getting on it. I won't be revisiting that in a hurry although y absolutely coated it in grease on reassembly.

It's off! What a job! Used an air chisel, and a long screwdriver as a chisel, to batter the bracket from around the seized rounded off bolt. It wasn't easy getting the two tow sockets off either.
The caravan one on the left was rotten the other, which has a landrover logo on it is perfect

I can do some more derusting tomorrow. Lots of work to do to the steel bumper but it's in good nick generally, got to make new brackets, straighten the top edge, previous owner has tried to body filler it, that's the white stuff, then a derusting and painting. I'll get the plastic skin off first.

Let me know where you find the replacement clips that hold the plastic skin in place. Mine's starting to bulge on tol edge in the centre so I really need to take a look.

Wee bottle did it with a little left.:p.
Had enough to do the rear axle too even though I didn't have to.
Been round it 4 times trying to see bits I've missed just to use the last bit up.:D

Good...I hope you never decanted back into bottle like wot the 'destructions' advise you don't?;)

Annoyingly the most expensive of the twin silencers is more rotted than it originally looked so I'll have to buy a pair of them.
