Stripped the other rear hub down today, the multipoint bolts holding the caliper carrier on this side started to round off but lots of heat saved the day. Calipers are a mess but the discs are good, lots of derusting to do on the hubs, caliper carriers, brake hose support plates and disc shields.loads of loose scale scraped off ready for sandblasting and paint.
Ordered 2 calipers, set of pads, 3 new rear brake hoses, 2 rear dampers, front steering damper, and new bolts. Abs sensors are hopefully good.

Yes it does, it's like someone parked it in the sea up to the axle tops, nearly everything above that is sound.
Thats why I asked about wading
Tell you what Chris with all this work are you trying to join our heart attack club:eek::eek: One or two of us on here with dodgy tickers. Seems to be a Land Rover ownership thing. Keep up the good work but take it steady pal:D

All the bits are derusted and primed, top coat tomorrow. Whilst waiting for the new bits to arrive, seems to take 5 days going off the last order, I'm going to make repair plates for the rear mudflaps then get the side steps off and see what can be done with them plus lots of other little things that need doing..
Me tickers fine I think, it's my back and knees that are killing me slowly..

Oooh crikey pal:eek::eek: I have a bad back and had a total knee replacement last year. Hips are next on the list:oops::oops: Just saying not trying to worry you at all:rolleyes::rolleyes::D

I've got compressed vertebrae in my lower back and neck, the result of coming to a very abrupt stop, head first, when I crashed a motorcycle, the knee is from a fall onto concrete, about 25ft needing 3 operations around 14yrs ago, lots of pain when I knell and even more when I try to stand up and straighten it.

All bits are topcoated, so while their drying I removed the rear dampers, spent an hour trying to find my 18mm socket to remove the top bolts:mad:, still not found it, I used it to do the front dampers so maybe it's hidden there somewhere but I couldn't find it, probably swept it up and it's gone in the bin:rolleyes:. Found an 18mm impact though so they are off now.
Because Duchess is on the bumpstops the dampers wouldn't come out at full compression, still too 'long' so out came the grinder:D.
Had a poke and rough clean up of the rear box section cross member, the tow bar bolts through it, and , although it looked really bad, it is solid:)
So that will get a good clean up and some paint when the exhaust is off in a week or so.

I broke my little toe? Does that count?
Oh and three metatarsal after 650kg of steel fell on my foot..:p

Metaltarsals :D

Top rear mounts are always bugger to come off so you done okay there. If you can keep the rear subframe and tow attachment from being too grubby your on a winner. They are bits tend to suffer, many owned by boatists have already died from this.

I used a long breaker bar, just enough room to crack them and finish off with a ratchet. Passenger side was harder as the wheel well metal hung down a little lower and it was harder to get straight on with the socket.
I've cleaned the old bolts up with a wire wheel and cold galvanize painted.
