When we moved here we drove over 2 trailers 1 small box with the RR. then a bigger box with the pickup. All boxes were weighed and written on so they could be distributed and heavy 1s on the bottom, Also had to try and offset a 500lb bike:D.
Yep we didnt bring much:D.

J
No, you didn't!
We used our huge box trailer over and over again.
But then we did bring over a kitchen, a utility room, including american fridge and all white goods, two bathrooms, three bedrooms and the lounge diner, i.e. two leather 3 seater sofas, two leather recliners, 10 dining chairs, a huge dining table to seat 14 and a huge sideboard. To say nothing of hallstand, wardrobes, linen cupboard, display cabinet, coffe tables, garden furntiture, bookcases, lamps, occasional tables etc etc etc. That trailer earned it's money.:):):)
Oh and a pergola, two lots of decking, a biggish shed, the poly tunnel, wood flooring for the master bedroom and walk-in wardrobe, tiles for two bathrooms and the kitchen/utility.
When i think how much we moved it makes my hair fall out.
But this was spread out over a period of about 5-10 years! Though most was moved in the first 2-3 years.
If we had to sell up and move out I hate to think what we'd do.:eek::eek:

Hey @Glasgie !
Don't you put the tops on as soon as they are filled? We do, as in the past we have had the odd one go off through not doing that. I know they are hot anorl but it lets then do the vacuum sealed thing.
But then we keep our jams for years! (Neighbour counted our fruit trees when we were away and told us we have 47. That's a lot of fruit a lot of which we make into jam.)
Do you use a jam funnel?
We find ours speeds things up enomously!!
Frogs love their preserves!
Anyways! yours looks lovely. Yum Yum!:D:D:D;););):):):)
Prefer to let cool
Dont use a jam funnel
We are on our last jar from last year, kept in the fridge so taste as good as when we made it.
Pal's apple tree is hanging with fruit so Apple jelly next on the list

We don't have room in a fridge for all our jam! (Though i expect you mean, "once opened")
We noticed the old green mould thing forming on one or two jars a while back, so from then on did the "hot lidding" since when it has occurred no more. (This is after all how tis done industrially.)
We currently have 91 jars some dating back to 2017 and we have a load back in the UK that we have taken over , over the years.;):)
Re jam funnels, we bought our first one more or less for a laugh at a pottery exhibition locally here, but once used it is so quick, so clean and so precise that we bought a stainless one for use in the UK. OK, so we do huge quantities.;);)
Amazon product
Like this thing, though you can tell the photographer is not a pro as you would never use such a stupid little spoon to do it with, a decent sized ladle is what is required!!!
We turn our apples into apple juice. Pre Covid we took them to an apple juice festival run by one of the local boar hunts. the guys turned up with lorries and cut up, crushed, pressed and pasteurised the juice. Sold you bottles if you didn't have any. Then you had a lovely meal, etc etc. Typically French.
But with Covid last year we had to take them to a pro. He only charged us about 60 cents per bottle to make the juice from our apples. 1€ on top if you had to buy the botts. (1 litre). We had a bumper crop last year so we had boxes and boxes of botts, but this year the weather has been totally against us so I don't think we'll be bothering him!
So you have done bettern us this year with the apples.:(:(:(:(
Have a mate in the UK who goes in with two others every year to make scrumpy. Wish we were there for that!;););););)

The self catering bit maybe. But with the price of oil competing with beer, I didn't do many oil changes in my stoodent days.
There is an apocryphal story of a scots student who was admitted to hospital with scurvy.
When asked what on earth he had been eating, or not eating he told the following story.
Some way into term he realised ,at the rate he was spending his grant on beer, he'd never be able to feed himself so he had a great idea.
He bought a load of porridge and lined a wardrobe drawer with greaseproof paper. He cooked it all up, poured it into the drawer and let it set.
From then on he continued to imbibe and if he got hungry he went and cut himself a slice of porridge.
Until he fell ill!

I do remember that. I recollect that it was reported he was the first person to be treated for scurvy for something like 150 years .

... that perhaps I have damaged myself with all the scaffold-tower climbing, painting etc. etc. :(
My neck is very sore & stiff and makes a gristly grinding noise as I turn my head left/right. My shoulders too are sore and my back feels like it is going to go into "spasm" at any moment. :(
Feck! Feck! Feck!
I have far too much to do for this sort of nonsense to be happening. :(
Oh bugga :(
