Ghost immobiliser to get or not to get?

Hi all.
I am getting my new 2nd hand Freelander 2 (2012) in a couple of days.
I already have Cameras and a Disk lock to fit but given the amount of cars being stolen at the moment, would you recommend a Ghost Immobiliser?
If not what would you recommend?

Insurance and dont worry about it.
Plus if buying on finance getting GAP insurance may be worthwhile, interesting bits in the small print.

I would not worry to much, I am sure Freelanders get stolen much the same as anything else, but tbh cant recall reading about any?

No value in freelanders i'm afraid. Only higher value motors. You're safe.

Very few crooks are going to break into your house to steal the keys to nick an 8 year old Freelander, which is why the insurance is so cheap.
It's already got an insurance approved immobiliser and steering lock, so you've nothing to worry about.

If you talk to the police or/and look at crime studies, most thefts/burglaries are committed to generate money. Take the stuff and sell it yourself or pass it to someone who can. The main reason why they break into a specific house is because they have a belief. A belief its worth while. They may know what's inside or have a belief its a good house to pick for other reasons. If they know how to get past security because they know the weak points in the design of windows/doors fitted, and they can see escape is easy, yer house is a target.

Cars are easy to take if they find the key. They mostly want small stuff they can carry and convert to cash easily. Jewelry, laptops, electronics etc. Once a burglar is inside yer house they consider the risk level to be low because they can't be seen. Spending a bit of time having a good look round, especially in bedrooms where peeps tend to keep valuables isn't a problem.

A Freelander may not be worth much but you can easily strip it for 1k sovs worth of parts. It's the ideal get away vehicle. They can pile it up with yer stuff and drive away in style if they find the key.

When I had a security assessment by the local pcso's on my castle the results surprised me. The difference between what I thought was secure or a risk, was totally different in the mind of a burglar.

There's two steps to increasing security. Stopping it getting stolen and identifying it in the hope its location.

A cheap option to help find a stolen car is to get the windows etched. The kit below comes with everything you need to etch a unique code into the windows. Also some paint etch labels. Apply them and register it online. Anyone seeing the etched code can check if its registered stolen or not, online.
